Most people who love God have not read the whole Bible. That is not a scandal. It is just true, and it is worth saying plainly so nobody has to pretend.
If you have never finished the Bible, do not start in Genesis. Start in John or Mark, read a chapter at a time, and give it fifteen honest minutes.
Usually the story is the same. You start in Genesis in January. Creation is gripping. Abraham is gripping. Then you hit the middle of Exodus, the tabernacle measurements arrive, and by Leviticus you are done. Next January you try again from the same page.
So here is a different way in.
Do not start in Genesis. Start in the Gospel of John or the Gospel of Mark. Both are short, both move, and both put you in front of Jesus immediately. Finishing something matters more than starting in the right place, and finishing a Gospel gives you the thing every later book depends on: you know who the main character is.
Read a chapter at a time, not a verse. Verses were added centuries later to help us find things. They are addresses, not units of meaning. A chapter usually holds one complete thought, and reading the whole thought protects you from building an idea on half a sentence.
Give it fifteen minutes. Not an hour. An hour is a promise most of us break by Thursday, and a broken promise makes you avoid the whole thing. Fifteen honest minutes you keep will beat an ambitious hour you quit.
And do not stop to solve every problem. If you hit something confusing, mark it and keep moving. Confusion is not a wall. It is a note for later.
Finish a Gospel. Then pick another. You are not behind. You are starting.
