Some days the race of faith feels heavier than it should. We are not just tired, we are distracted, carrying things that slow the soul.
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”
— Hebrews 12:1-3
Today, Hebrews calls us to run lighter and look higher. We are not left to manage the journey alone, because Jesus leads us, and His endurance gives us courage for the road ahead.

The writer does not tell us to sprint harder. He tells us to lay aside what clings, because some burdens are not sins, just weights. If we keep carrying every worry, comparison, and disappointment, our steps will feel slow and labored.
So we fix our eyes on Jesus. He endured opposition without quitting, and He did it for the joy set before Him. That means our strength is not found in trying to prove ourselves, but in trusting the One who has already gone before us.
And we are not running alone. The great cloud of witnesses reminds us that God has kept His people through every season. When our faith feels small, we can lean on His faithfulness and keep going together.
A Word of Prayer
Lord Jesus, help us lay down every weight that slows our hearts. Give us endurance to keep running, and steady our eyes on You when the path feels long. Teach us to trust You fully, and to finish well by Your grace.
